“To wish you were someone else is to waste the person you are.” - Ty Cohen

Last week I went to see the new Harry Potter movie with my kids. Have you seen it? It was pretty good. If you are a fan of J.K.Rowling’s books, you will love it.
I especially liked one scene where Ron “thinks” that Harry Potter has given him a potion of “liquid luck” and wins the game of Quidditch. What he really drank was a glass of water, but because he was “convinced” that he was invincible thanks to the magic elixir of luck, his game improved and he turned from an ok to an incredible
-
Keeper in just a few seconds. Scientists call this the “placebo effect”, demonstrating that our abilities go far beyond our own expectations.
Which got me thinking, where can I get about hundred thousand bottles of fake elixir of luck? I could transform peoples’ lives instantly, remove my own blocks and limits, make tons of money and try bungee jumping (being sure that I will not die of a heart attack or a broken neck).
And that is when it hit me!
People have been selling ‘magic potions’ left and right for hundreds of years. Think about all the weight loss pills that claim to help you shed extra pounds while you sleep. Think about all the ‘get-rich-quick’ schemes, all quick fixes and hidden secrets that promise instant results with minimal effort.
We might consider ourselves intelligent and rational grown-ups, but, let’s face it, deep down a little part of us still believes in magic spells and potions, right? How else can you explain the reasons why people buy into ideas that sound as foolish as they seem?
I actually looked up the term ‘magic’. The vocabulary definition is “a practice of consciousness manipulation and/or autosuggestion to achieve a desired result, usually by using empirical techniques”. Let me see if I have got it right…
So basically…. As I have always taught, believed and practiced, if you want to achieve a desired result you need to truly convince yourself that you can achieve it as well as apply certain techniques that will help you to do it faster. It sounds to me like the words ‘magic’ and ‘goal setting’ have a lot in incommon!
For decades, Self-development programs have taught that by using affirmations and changing our negative beliefs we can change our life. It is true. And I have seen it happen multiple times, including i my own life and the lives of many of my mentors, loved ones, friends, music industry and marketing clients and business associates.
However, I have also noticed that for most people it is much easier to believe that an external object has magic powers rather than for them to convince themselves that all it takes is belief and with that their abilities are limitless and these magic powers are hidden inside of their mind. The reason is obvious. Most of us are really bad at lying to ourselves when it comes to lying for a “Good” reason.
Sure we have no problem with telling ourselves (and others) lies of how great a singer we are, how great a lover we are and how good we look… But we have a hard time convincing ourselves into believe something that we do not perceive as true.
Therefore, when it comes to improving your self-confidence and achieving your goals, you have three possibilities:
Try to change your inner beliefs, by using affirmations, getting moral support from other people, and keeping our motivation high by reading inspirational books, quotes and attending self-help seminars. (and most importantly by listening to the Motivational Music Radio show that I host along w/ my co-host Jawar over at http://MotivationalMusicRadio.com )
Find someone/something that you believe has ‘magic powers’ and can help you. However, be careful when you look for external sources of ‘magic powers’, because you are partly giving control of your life in to the hands of another person or object. This is why you should make sure that you keep a certain level of skepticism and use common sense when following someone else’s instructions.
(I am of course joking here… You do understand that don’t you? )
Use the goal setting step-by-step process. As you start with the smaller goals and gradually accomplish them, your self-confidence and faith in your own abilities will grow. And after some time you will realize that you are capable of achieving a lot more than you thought is possible.
All these approaches work great. But if you want to see tremendous improvements faster I suggest that you combine these three approaches together.
Try them and see for yourself! Oh, and keep in mind that even magical solutions require a certain amount of time and effort in order to work properly, so set your goals but let nature take its place, don’t rush it.
I believe in you, now you just have to believe in yourself. Lets grow together…. Develop the confidence you need to succeed and success will beat a path to your door
I’m off to the movies with my oldest daughter Mia (Yes AGAIN, this time to see GI Joe, one of my favorites)….In the mean time, I need to get 20 comments on this post in order to keep them coming… I want to hear from YOU, not later, but right now… Believe in yourself enough to share just a few words with me in exchange for this post.
I want to know what your thoughts are… Do it now and you’ll be taking the first step toward being a more CONFIDENT, Focused, Disciplined, Treasure deserving person.

I totally agree with u! A lot of people wait for a miracle to happen (I’ve been there myself), when the miracle lives within them. We just need some faith! Your every post makes a difference in people’s lives! Thank u for the inspiration!
Gina you are right on point with your comment… We can sometimes pull our “Miracles” out of ourselves by learning to change our state..
Doing hings like listening to good music, remembering past accomplishments (big & small) and surrounding ourselves with the right people can help us to get there faster and more often ;0
Peace and keep being YOU!

The real magic is in the gift of the artist or band or the song that they write. The hit record or great song causes magic in the listener to happen. The goal setting and accomplishments of those goals translate into business. Most artists really dont like the biz aspects although they are here to stay. The expected miracles are mostly caused by very talented and well organized bands and songwriters and the magic that causes the miracles are the songs and talent and of course being ready if the unexpected happens. I often have worked with an artist or a band that really does not have a clue about the business. All top flight performers should have at least personnal management.
all the information you provide for me is great thanks and keep doing your thing!!!!!
Much respect to Tecca Nina – incomparable rap style, lyrics and persona plus business savvy and absolute persistence! And Travis O’Guin: he’s a guy who fully understands Tech’s musical intentions and doesn’t set him any creative limits.
One of the keys to his success. as you mentioned, sometimes you gotta be patient until you find the right partner, label, situation etc. He’s made the right moves and now he’s eating major artists ALIVE!
good read! I just found this site and am about to read everything you’ve written. I really appreciate the time you’ve taken to write this stuff. Thank you!
